Frequently Asked Questions

Single site budgets start at $10,000 CAD and go to $95,000 CAD or more depending on size and complexity. Multisite programs lower costs per facility.

See our arc flash study services for more details on pricing.

Anywhere from 3 weeks for a refresh at a small facility, and 16+ weeks for complex studies at large facilities. Timeframes are often driven by:

  1. data and model availability,
  2. access to equipment,
  3. and utility response times.

See our Arc Flash Study Services for more details on timelines.

While it depends on the service you select, we generally need some or all of the following:

  1. SLDs,
  2. equipment lists,
  3. existing power system model,
  4. protective device settings,
  5. utility fault data,
  6. nameplate data,
  7. and facility access for spot verification.

For most facilities with good documentation/record keeping, or new construction, production downtime is not typically required.

In some cases, where a facility or specific equipment has no documentation at all, it might become necessary to plan electrical outages to collect data. These are normally planned around previously scheduled facility shutdowns.

IEEE 1584 2018, NFPA 70E, and CSA Z462 for arc flash. See “Standards we know” for other standards that are usually referenced for completing the short circuit study, coordination study, and considered when providing recommendations.

EasyPower, ETAP, and SKM — and we can adopt your facility’s preferred platform.

Yes. We validate and update it to as-found conditions before running studies and printing labels.

Yes. We generate print ready labels and can ship to site for application by site personnel or come on site to apply them. We can also provide optional arc flash training, targeted for the specific type of personnel being trained.

At least every 5 years as per NFPA 70E / CSA Z462, or after significant electrical changes (e.g. new gear, major expansions, utility changes).

Yes, a Professional Engineer stamped report is always provided in Canada and the USA.
